chlorantraniliprole (Vantacor)

Vantacor has some contact activity, but it is most effective through ingestion. Anti-feeding activity. Insects typically die within 1-3 days of feeding. Translaminar and foliar systemic (moves to new leaves). Soft on many predatory insects. The minimum interval between treatments is 5 days. Make only two consecutive applications of Group 28 insecticides (e.g., Vantacor, Exirel, Voliam Flexi) before rotating to an insecticide with a different MOA. A similar product, Coragen, is less concentrated with a different use rate. Similar products with chlorantraniprole are available, including package mixes, but use and use rates vary.

Usage for chlorantraniliprole on Potatoes

Max Application per Season: 5.1fl oz

Emergence to Row Closure

Target Application per Acre REI PHI MOA Eff. Notes
Armyworms, Cutworms, Loopers 1.2-2.5 fl oz 4 h 14 d 28 E Apply when larvae are small.
Colorado Potato Beetle 1.2-2.5 fl oz 4 h 14 d 28 E Apply when about 50% of the eggs have hatched and most larvae are small. Don’t apply more than once via chemigation for CPBs.

Tuber Bulking

Target Application per Acre REI PHI MOA Eff. Notes
Armyworms, Cutworms, Loopers 1.2-2.5 fl oz 4 h 14 d 28 E Apply when larvae are small.
Colorado Potato Beetle 1.2-2.5 fl oz 4 h 14 d 28 E Apply when about 50% of the eggs have hatched and most larvae are small. Don’t apply more than once via chemigation for CPBs.

Late Tuber Bulking to Harvest

Target Application per Acre REI PHI MOA Eff. Notes
Colorado Potato Beetle 1.2-2.5 fl oz 4 h 14 d 28 E Apply when about 50% of the eggs have hatched and most larvae are small. Don’t apply more than once via chemigation for CPBs.
Tuberworm 1.2-2.5 fl oz 4 h 14 d 28 E Target PTW larvae feeding in the canopy in the weeks prior to vine desiccation or harvest. PHI is 14 days. For best results, chemigate in 0.1-to-0.2-acre inches of water and add MSO at 12 to 16 fl. oz. per acre. Foliar sprays may not provide adequate control of larvae in the mid to lower canopy.
