methomyl (Lannate LV)

Lannate LV is mainly a contact insecticide. It also has ingestion activity, but its residues are short-lived. It may knockback some beneficial, predatory insects. It is probably best used late in the season to knockback multiple pest species. Adjust the spray solution pH to 5-7. Make only two consecutive applications before rotating to an insecticide with a different MOA. Similar products containing methomyl are available but use rates vary.

Emergence to Row Closure

Target Application per Acre REI PHI MOA Eff. Notes
Aphid 1.5-3.0 pt 48 h 6 d 1A F It will knockback aphids. Products with longer residuals are preferred for controlling migratory aphids and limiting Potato Virus Y spread. Better for late season to knockback multiple pests.
Armyworms, Cutworms, Loopers 1.5-3.0 pt 48 h 6 d 1A G Kills worms on contact for knockback control, but it may also knockback some beneficial, predatory insects. Apply when insects are active.
Beet Leafhopper 1.5-3.0 pt 48 h 6 d 1A P It will control BLHs on contact but is not recommended for this pest because it provides only 5-7 days of residual control. Products with longer residual activity are more cost-effective for maintaining control of BLH during their migration periods and limiting spread of phytoplasma diseases (e.g., purple top).
Colorado Potato Beetle 1.5-3.0 pt 48 h 6 d 1A G The label doesn’t mention CPBs, but applications made to target other pests will control beetles and larvae. It will also knockback some predator insects.
Lygus Bugs 1.5-3.0 pt 48 h 6 d 1A G Kills lygus bugs on contact for knockback control, but it may also knockback some beneficial, predatory insects. Apply when nymphs are present for best results.
Potato Psyllid See Label 48 h 6 d 1A F The label doesn’t mention psyllids, but applications made to target other pests will knockback adult psyllids. It will also knockback some predatory insects. Products with longer residuals are preferred for controlling psyllids as they slowly migrate into potatoes. Better for late season to knockback multiple pests.
Thrips 1.5-3.0 pt 48 h 6 d 1A G Kills thrips on contact for knockback control. It may also knockback some beneficial, predatory insects. Apply when thrips are active.
