spinosad (Blackhawk)

Blackhawk has contact and ingestion activity. Translaminar, but not systemic. Expected residual activity is 4-7 days. An acidic spray solution will significantly shorten the residual activity, so adjust it to pH 6-9. Make only two consecutive applications of Group 5 insecticides (spinetoram and spinosad) before rotating to an insecticide with a different mode of action. Similar products with spinosad are available but use rates vary.

Emergence to Row Closure

Target Application per Acre REI PHI MOA Eff. Notes
Armyworms, Cutworms, Loopers 2.25-3.5 oz 4 h 7 d 5 G Apply when larvae are small. The lower rate of 2.25 oz. per acre may be used for small larvae, and 3 to 3.5 oz. per acre should be used for larger larvae, but the largest larval stages may not be controlled at any rate.
Colorado Potato Beetle 1.7-3.3 oz 4 h 7 d 5 G Apply when about 50% of the eggs have hatched and most larvae are small. Do not apply to consecutive generations of CPB.
Potato Psyllid See Label 4 h 7 d 5 G (n) Psyllids are not on the label, but applications targeting other pests may control psyllid nymphs. No adult activity. Translaminar, so it should get to the nymphs on the underside of leaves.
Thrips 2.25-3.5 oz 4 h 7 d 5 E An adjuvant added to spray solution may improve thrips control.
