Dithane F-45 includes a broad-spectrum, non-systemic (contact) fungicide with protectant activity. It can be applied as a seed treatment or foliar fungicide. This describes seed treatment. It will not cure disease already present in the seed, but will limit the spread of several fungal pathogens when cutting and planting. It will not control bacterial diseases. Dithane F-45 is a flowable concentrate. Apply to dry seed as a slurry at the rate of 1.6 to 2.5 fl oz of product per 100 lbs of seed. Dye must be added to impart an unnatural color to the seed. Similar seed treatments with mancozeb as a flowable formulation are available, but the amount of mancozeb and use rates vary.

Pest or Disease | MOA1 | Efficacy2 | Rate per Acre3 | REI4 | PHI5 | Notes |
Fusarium dry rot (caused by Fusarium spp.) | M3 | G | See Label | 24 hr | This product will limit the spread of Fusarium spp. from infected seed during the cutting and planting process, but it will not cure disease already in the seed. Use Rate: 1.6 to 2.5 fl oz product/100 lb seed.
Late blight (Phytophtora infestans) | M3 | G | See Label | 24 hr | This product will limit the spread of Phytophthora infestans from infected seed during the cutting and planting process, but it will not cure disease already in the seed. Use Rate: 1.6 to 2.5 fl oz product/100 lb seed.
Rhizoctonia canker and black scurf (Rhizoctonia solani) | M3 | G | See Label | 24 hr | It will suppress seed-borne Rhizoctonia around developing sprouts. Avoid using seed from infected or heavily scurfed tubers, even with fungicides. Combine with a soil-applied product (in-furrow) to control soil-borne Rhizoctonia.
Silver scurf (Helminthosporium solani) | M3 | F | See Label | 24 hr | It will limit the spread of H. solani (the causal agent of silver scurf disease) from infected seed during the cutting and planting process. Use Rate: 1.6 to 2.5 fl oz product/100 lb seed. |

2 Efficacy ratings denote the relative ability of a pesticide to control its target. The ratings are E = excellent, G = good, F = fair/suppression; P = poor, and ND = no data. Efficacy ratings are based on the inherent toxicity of the pesticide against its target, the likelihood that the target will contact or ingest the product as applied, duration of impact on the target, and undesired effects, such as negative impacts on natural enemies that could lead to future pest outbreaks.
3 Rate per acre per application. Refer to the product label for maximum use rate per season.
4 Reentry interval.
5The minimum pre-harvest interval. Some products do not list PHI.
Note: always read and follow the directions on the pesticide label.
