Maxim 4FS includes a broad-spectrum, non-systemic (contact) fungicide with protectant activity. It will not cure disease already present in the seed, but it will limit the spread of some fungal pathogens when cutting and planting. It will not control bacterial diseases. Maxim 4FS is a flowable concentrate for seed treatment. Apply as a water-based slurry with specialized equipment at the rate of 0.08 fl oz of product per 100 lbs of seed. This product is not intended for application with bark or absorbent carriers. Treated seed should not be planted immediately, because wet surfaces from slurry treatment may inhibit wound healing. Mix only the amount of product needed for daily use. Similar seed treatments with fludioxonil are available, but the formulation, use rate, and application directions may differ.

Pest or Disease | MOA1 | Efficacy2 | Rate per Acre3 | REI4 | PHI5 | Notes |
Fusarium dry rot (caused by Fusarium spp.) | 12 | G | See Label | 12 hr | This product will limit the spread of Fusarium spp. from infected seed during the cutting and planting process, but it will not cure disease already in the seed. Some Fusarium strains have shown reduced sensitivity to fludioxonil, so rotating or combining modes of action is important for resistance management. Use Rate: 0.08 fl oz product/100 lb seed.
Rhizoctonia canker and black scurf (Rhizoctonia solani) | 12 | G | See Label | 12 hr | It will suppress seed-borne Rhizoctonia around developing sprouts. Avoid using seed from infected or heavily scurfed tubers, even with fungicides. Combine with a soil-applied product (in-furrow) to control soil-borne Rhizoctonia. Use Rate: 0.08 fl oz product/100 lb seed.
Silver scurf (Helminthosporium solani) | 12 | F | See Label | 12 hr | It will limit the spread of H. solani (the causal agent of silver scurf disease) from infected seed during the cutting and planting process. Use Rate: 0.08 fl oz product/100 lb seed. |

2 Efficacy ratings denote the relative ability of a pesticide to control its target. The ratings are E = excellent, G = good, F = fair/suppression; P = poor, and ND = no data. Efficacy ratings are based on the inherent toxicity of the pesticide against its target, the likelihood that the target will contact or ingest the product as applied, duration of impact on the target, and undesired effects, such as negative impacts on natural enemies that could lead to future pest outbreaks.
3 Rate per acre per application. Refer to the product label for maximum use rate per season.
4 Reentry interval.
5The minimum pre-harvest interval. Some products do not list PHI.
Note: always read and follow the directions on the pesticide label.
